Quick review of housing stats
When we take the revisions, October housing starts were about as expected. Single family starts at 970k were little changed m/o/m and for perspective the high this year was a bit above 1mm. Multi family starts were 402k, up 24k m/o/m but still well off the high this year of 601k back in February. For perspective on multi family, the 4 yr (so back before Covid) average in starts is 474k.
Permits were up slightly m/o/m with single family higher by 5k to 968k and multi family up by 11k to 519 but well below the 593k seen in August. The 4 yr average for multi family permits is 592k.
