Job openings data
Job openings in February totaled 8.756mm, about as expected and little changed with January’s figure of 8.748mm. These are the smallest amount of job openings since early 2021, though still above the pre Covid level of about 7mm. That said, I do believe there is a lot of double/triple counting now due to work from home capabilities.
The hiring rate was 3.7% vs 3.6% in January and 3.7% in December (was 3.9% in February 2020). The quit rate held at 2.2% for a 4th straight month but at the lowest since March 2018 not including Covid.
