Capital spending, mixed bag
Core capital goods orders in May was about as expected when we include the downward revision to April. The May print was up .7%, 6 tenths more than initially expected but the prior month was revised lower by 7 tenths to a .6% increase. Core shipments, which gets plugged into GDP was as forecasted so shouldn’t shift any GDP estimates for Q2.
